"And I can tell you that they have an agenda that causes them to be indifferent as to whether the GOP wins or loses."
I began with this quote from my previous "Part I" post. Because this best describes the Elitists/Globalists that are in the drivers seat of "our" GOP. They are influencing, driving, steering the party in a direction where winning is going to be impossible. And they know it! We see the manifestations of this on other issues but especially surrounding the illegal immigration issue. There is no greater symbol or collection of this globalist mentality as you will find within the
Manhattan Institute (MI). They bill themselves as a conservative think tank. This is President Bush's
"go to" think tank (
http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/magnet.htm ). He, Rove and MI's Myron Magnet plotted the "roadmap to compassionate conservatism". And no doubt there are some brilliant conservative minds within
MI and they've done much for conservative causes. But they have strayed off into this Globalists mindset. Especially within a compartment of their org that deals with immigration issues. When
MI is asked to "comment" on immigration issues they always march out an elitist little tart named
Tamar Jacoby. She is the point person when it comes to their unwavering support for the
McCain/Kennedy Immigration Reform Bill (
http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/immigration_bill_pr.htm ) so you must assume that the entire
MI has become globalist in their thinking.
They view the concept of sovereign borders and nationalism as antiquated. Obsolete thinking. So anyone on the GOP side who disagree's with
MI's position gets
Ms. Jacoby loosed on them. She has become so predictable, however. Her first attack wave - always with a pointy finger is, "You are anti-immigration. You are a Nativist." (
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47006-2004Nov12.html?sub=AR ). Which, of course, is not true - and she knows it but these "brands" are an effective weapon. I find her written opinions or quotes to be extremely amusing because she doesn't try to hide her contempt for Middle America fly-over-state voters and the anti-"illegal "immigration forces. In one article she states, "they are mostly males, white and lack college degree's" or "unthinking" (
http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20061101faessay85606/tamar-jacoby/immigration-nation.html ).
Tamar evidently believes that anything learned outside the halls of some ivy league university is just not useful information.
MI really needs to send our little
Tamar off to sensitivity training. She really is a smart cookie and at times she almost gets it (
http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/_wsj-getting_beyond_aword.htm ). There's hope for
Tamar and
MI! They simply need to invite a few more folks from the fly-over states as "vistin' fellers". Ha! Not likely to happen.
Tamar and
MI are masterful at crafting, wording and manipulating polls that they commission, many from
Ed Goeas and the
Tarrance Group, in order to get the end conclusion that they want to submit to government leaders. They make very convincing arguments as to why the southern border should remain porous. And they can point out that the "anti-immigration" (as they call them-again not true) candidates like
J.D. Hayworth,
Rick Santorum, and
George Allen all lost on 11/7. Tamar is gleeful about this in her writings (
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0921congressional-races0921.html ). And that makes me wonder if, behind the scenes, the
MI might have been working against these candidates (
http://www.azchamber.com/content.cfm?page=article&commid=00&artid=95 ) . I know what your thinking, "Gee another conspiracy theory". Well maybe. But they do have a strong motivation. Because the
MI has strong links to the business community. The
U.S. Chamber of Commerce has joined with them on numerous occasions. And the
USCoC has also strongly endorsed
McCain/Kennedy. The
USCoC wants to keep the flow of cheap labor coming into the U.S. and they believe, falsely, that if we seal the Mexican border that will permanently damage our economy. In a way their motivation "seems" good but they are totally wrong and misguided. Their CEO,
Thomas Donohue, comes across as a conservative, level headed individual (
http://www.uschamber.com/press/speeches/2005/050526_immigration_border_security_citizenship.htm ) but the
USCoC has thrown its full support behind
McCain/Kennedy! The
Heritage Foundation has a poor opinion of McCain/Kennedy (
http://www.heritage.org/Research/GovernmentReform/em975.cfm ). The way they describe it, it sounds to me like eating tomato soup with a fork. There will be so many ways to "beat the system" that it will be ineffective and the status quo will continue. Which is really what
Mr. Donohue and the business community want. Business does not like change when times are good. But aren't they like all of us in that respect? They are resisting with all the dollars they can throw at it. And who's catching those dollars? The answer:
Manhattan Institute,
John McCain, the
RNC, and any GOP candidate who'll play ball.
Who was it that said "follow the money"? The money is flowing. The
MI and the
USCoC can operate just as well in a Hillary Clinton administration as they can in the present environ and keep the money flowing.
So we now have the little Angel and Demon perched on our shoulder. The little devil is saying,
"you have to be realistic. You are really powerless to change the way things are. Cast your GOP vote and go about your business. Let the people who know the real situation handle the future of your nation. Take the path of least resistance. Make it easy on yourself". But the little Angel says,
" every American generation has had to fight, on and off the battlefield, in order to maintain our freedom and sovereignty. If you surrender you will lose. Fight on. You can achieve a win in 2008". So The GOP
Id continues to follow the money. The GOP
SuperEgo has only their vote to speak with and they spoke loudly on 11/7/06. And even though attackers like
Tamar Jacoby try to explain away the significance of this, we should not be discouraged. We have been heard. DD
