Is a "Shadow RNC" Evolving?

Recently Newt Gingrich told an interviewer that there was a 4 to 1 chance that he would "not" run for President! ( link1 )  GOP Presidential candidates have been openly criticizing and snubbing the President. ( link2)  Faced with a 40% drop in small donor contributions, the "old RNC" actually fired all of its phone solicitors ( link3 ) showing how absolutely divorced from reality they, the RNC,  are.  Putting all the blame on the poor phone solicitors and none on themselves!  What a collection of losers.   And over all GOP fundraising is down and sagging behind the dem's.  ( link4 ).

All of the above are "road signs" to some in the GOP.  Including myself.  At a rapid clip now, the GOP candidates and their staff's and advisors, especially, are realizing  that the President, K. Rove, Mel Martinez -  "the wrecking crew" are absolutely trashing "our" GOP and ruining our chances for 2008 over this  insane McCain/Kennedy/Bush  immigration bill.

Its decision time for those GOP'rs  who still believe we can win in '08.  Some sort of "Shadow RNC" is (or needs to) evolve complete with a Shadow RNC Chair - possibly Newt Gingrich?   Newt seems to be falling into that position naturally.  As if he were destined for it.  I believe he is. He seems to be falling away from presidential candidacy.   His demeanor lately in TV and radio interviews is that of a coach on the sidelines during a desperate, must-win game.  Not the demeanor of a candidate.  He has a brilliant mind with a steady flowing stream of great ideas.  But too much personal baggage to actually vie for the Presidency.  However,  the Republican Party can not afford to waste or discard such talent.  We need him to continue to "coach" us through this difficult time.

And with the "old RNC"   falling short in the fundraising department, what's the point?  Individual candidates can have their own internet and other fundraising these days.  And regarding the U.S. Chamber and Club for Growth, they'd best fall in line with the "New Republican Party" or they'll be left out in the cold.  And if they throw their support toward the Dem's -  oh brother.   Wouldn't  want to be in their shoes after 1/20/09 if they do that.

I say the Shadow RNC is, indeed, evolving.  Maybe unbeknownst to the Candidates and others within the higher tiers of the party  but, nonetheless, it is forming out of sheer desperate necessity.  Like the old west wagon trains that used to naturally form up in a circle when being attacked.   And it is  necessary  to separate from the President and his "wrecking crew".  Or, come January 09, to be with him in Crawford clearing brush because there will be nothing else to do.  And do you think he'll care?  All he cares about now is doing what he wants.  He has little regard for our Republican Party or a GOP victory in '08.  Its not a priority for him.  Darvin Dowdy
