Let's Get Behind These Valiant "RNC Renegades"

In my previous post I wrote about some of the positive changes that are being attempted by certain individuals within the RNC.  Revolutionary ides and concepts.  These individuals are working to break away from Bush/Rovian influences are trying to move back toward a position of sensitivity toward the former GOP voting Base.  Recognizing that, hey, it takes votes to win elections.  Not just money from special interests groups.
One of the individuals I mentioned in my last post, Gary Emineth, is still out there fighting the good fight.  And there are others at his side.  This morning, 12/30, there is an exclusive report from Ralph Hallow on this "battle".   You can be sure that the Bush/Rove wing of the GOP will mount a well financed, well organize and brutal counter attack.   So lets get behind these valiant RNC Revolutionaries.  They will need our help.  I'll leave it up to you as how you will do that.  I'd appreciate any ideas as to how to do that.  I intend to contact my GOP elected representatives.  I will hold them responsible.  Darvin Dowdy

The GOP Base "Will" Cast Their Ballot for RNC Chair...

Kudos to K. James Ryan for shining a big “spotlight” on a particular Republican National Committee (RNC) member, Gary Emineth.     Mr. Gary Emineth of North Dakota is a member of a very select group of 168 RNC committee folks that will choose the next RNC Chairperson. Many believe that the choice of RNC Chair is going to be pivotal.   If they choose some elitist/business as usual/status quo individual it is going to be a massive turn-off for the Base. And the Base is watching. But that, apparently, is exactly the sort of individual the GOP Hierarchy wants. So there is this huge wedge driven between the Base and this “Gang of 168” RNC members. And, it appears that Mr. Emineth took a BIG MALLET and drove that wedge several inches deeper during an interview with The Hill’s Reid Wilson this week where he made the following statement to Reid:

“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the public thinks; it matters what 168 of us think” (in the choosing of the RNC Chairperson)

I’m sure that by now Mr. Emineth wishes he could have re-phrased his statement. The fact is, it appears that Mr. Emineth is trying to effect some positive change and his statement may have had an element of sarcasm, cynicism and frustration mixed in. He’s up against some real nasty K. Rove appointed, veteran power brokers such as incumbent chairman Mike Duncan. All this according to an article out today in the Washington Times by Ralph Hallow which really puts the whole mess in perspective.   All I can say to Gary is, sir you have my prayers. You’re going to need them.

Oh and one other piece of advice for Gary Emineth. Now, Gary, that you’ve succeeded in getting the Base involved, you might want to consider getting them on your team!  Yes, 59 million screaming, emailing, fax’ing, phone calling fanatics can make a difference. Look at McCain/Kennedy, June 07. This choice of RNC chair is, again, pivotal. If we don’t make the right choice we could see another 11/7/06 in November 2010. If the RNC continues to dis and ignore the Base, they will drive millions away. No one wants to be connected with a loser. I, personally, consider Karl Rove as one who has done extreme damage to “our” GOP. Way over rated, this guy.   If he is responsible for the choice of Mike Duncan then you need to openly make that connection.   Believe me, it will help your cause. The Base wants to distance itself from anything Bush or Rovian and a move forward toward Civic Conservatism and an inclusive civic nationalism.

As to my other site visitors I want to encourage you to contact Mr. Emineth ( link ). Let him know that you are watching and that you care who the next RNC Chair will be. Let him know that we are looking for someone out there with the courage to throw a wrench into the gears of RNC machine politics. Stop the process! And, above all, let him know that the “Gang of 168” needs to reach out to the Base prior to choosing an RNC Chair. Ask him to be our advocate.

Additionally, it is urgent that we all contact our elected Republican representatives and make it clear to them that we are involved in this process. That is if you have GOP Rep’s. If none of your elected reps are Repub’s, contact your state GOP chair person. Let them know that you are watching closely and that you expect anything other than business as usual.   We need someone at the helm of the RNC that will stop the accelerated downward spiral and return us to positive ground. Darvin Dowdy

Sarah Palin: Uninformed Again on Nafta

I had high hopes for Gov. Sarah Palin.   That maybe she would be the leader that had her fingers squarely on the pulse of Middle America. And would re-introduce the GOP to Conservative America. Once again. Forcing the GOP to take its eyes off of self and focus on those estranged former GOP voters out there in flyover country. But, alas, something has happened. Apparently she’s been “turned”.   This past week in an interview with CTV (Canadian TV) Sarah revealed herself as just another GOP talking head. Talking down and not listening. And no more in touch with Mom and Pop America than John McCain.   The interview starts on a positive note regarding the 2700 kilometer oil pipeline that she helped orchestrate. Looks like it will start at the Northslope and meander down through western Canada into Washington State. At least according to the map provided. Certainly a great accomplishment and, no doubt, she should be proud.

But that is, in my opinion, when the interview started to go south. And not south like the pipeline. But with her infusion of typical, predictable GOP talking points. First some pandering; “Pres. Obama is surrounding himself with good people and we’re optimistic…”.   You know Sarah, this is not what the Conservative Base wants to hear. More of George W. Bush’s “New Tone”, pandering, garbage style rhetoric! We’ve had 8 years of it and we’re not in the mood. Not to mention having to listen to McCain talking about “my good friends on the other side of the isle” throughout the campaign. Vomit!   You know the dems are a collection of lefty’s that hate our Constitution and want to turn it into some “living document”! And we know it, too! Sarah, when you speak like this, think “1st” of us true conservatives out here? We don’t want to hear this garbage.

And then she begins to attack Obama on one of the very few issues that he was/is right about - Nafta. One issue that really garnered a lot of votes for him and the democrats. She says, “I think he was wrong to send a message that he would unilaterally want to go in and renegotiate [Nafta]”.   As if that’s the only alternative?? And, again, she’s on Canadian TV so she, like a good globalist Republican, is going out of her way to pander to the Canadians by making this statement. Forgetting, all the while, that this interview will be reported upon throughout the U.S.!   And, sadly, showing how uninformed she actually is [or how poor her advisers are]. And at the same time (I’m sure unintentionally) turning her back on “Joe Six-Pack”. Especially Joe Six-Pack the Truck Driver! Because the particular part of Nafta that must be renegotiated has to do with the survival of the U.S. Trucking Industry and millions of truck driving jobs being lost to much lower paid Mexican drivers. And, an aspect that few are discussing, Canadian drivers. Because both are now driving across U.S. taxpayer funded highways without proper work visas or permits. Taking U.S. trucking jobs. And that should not be happening!   The real problem is that the Mexican drivers and U.S. drivers usually get paid By-the-Mile. And Mexican drivers make a small fraction of what U.S. drivers make. And that varies depending on Union and Non-Union U.S. drivers.   Non-Union U.S. Truckers I’ve spoken with get anywhere from .35 - .40 per mile. They usually live in the cab of their truck for 5 to 6 weeks away from their homes and families. I’ve also learned that for Mexican truckers top wages are about .18 per mile.   So you see, here is the essence of the problem that Sarah Palin seems totally unaware of. Anyone with any common sense, logic or ability to rationalize must see that if this situation goes unchecked with the Mexican Truckers, well almost the entire U.S. Trucking industry will disappear and reappear again in northern Mexico! And this could happen within the next 5 years.   Oh, certainly we’ll still have the trucking companies but they’ll no longer operate the yards or own the rigs. These trucking companies will operate out of high-rise office buildings and they’ll coordinate their loads w/the yards in Northern Mexico. In the meantime millions of unemployed U.S. truckers will be out looking for jobs.   “Doing what?” I ask.

So this is the aspect of Nafta that must be re-negotiated. The democrats have capitalized on this. But Sarah Palin and the Republicans have chosen to not even discuss it. They remain rigid. And there’s no good reason for them to remain so rock-hard stubborn regarding this.   Its cost them. Look at the 1.5 million member of the Teamsters Union. Let me remind you of something. President Ronald Reagan diligently sought and acquired the Teamsters endorsement in both ’80 and ’84!! He understood and respected the American Truckers both Union and Non-Union. He would not have allowed this aspect of Nafta. It would be a simple matter to ask the Mexican and Canadian governments to come to the table and explain to them, “hey we have 6.7% unemployment. Changes have to be made”. These would not be “unilateral”. Not with all parties at the table. They’d have to understand and comply because they can’t afford to break relations. If they’re true friends they’ll understand. If not then we need to know.   And by including the Canadians in on these negotiations it completely removes any racial overtones. Canadian and Mexican truckers can get in line for work visas if they want to work in the U.S.   And, I might add, the issuance of these work visa’s should be tied directly to U.S. employment numbers. The visa’s being issued only as the workers are needed.   U.S. Roads and Highways for U.S. Truckers – 1st.

"Nation and its Citizenry First!" Can't they get that through their thick skulls?

So, very disappointing, Sarah Palin being totally uninformed about this aspect. However, unlike others in the GOP Hierarchy, I do want to give her the benefit of the doubt. I firmly believe that if she were made aware of this “glitch” in Nafta and the potential damage to our Nation, she would certainly come down on the side of U.S. Truckers. So, if anyone has any idea as to how we might get the information to her, well lets try, ok?

The last disappointing comments made by Sarah, once again, pandering big time. To the Good Lord above, can we stop this disgusting pandering by and from Republicans? Can we add a new plank to the GOP platform? No groveling or pandering! No crawling. No begging.   Sarah just has to compliment Obama on the choice of Hillary Clinton as SecState.   Sarah, honey! Better to say nothing. Did you almost gag when you said this?

Then Sarah goes on to speculates as whether she’ll even remain in politics. All in all, a “nothing” interview.   Nothing substantive. Very disappointing.   Again, I had high hopes for Sarah. But deep down I can’t blame her if she doesn’t want this absolute mess of nation flung upon her and her families shoulders.   If that’s the case then maybe she is, understandably, trying to put some distance between us and her.   Well, it worked!    Darvin Dowdy
NOTE:  Just fyi, I voted for McCain/Palin and am directly responsible for bringing in at least 7 other votes for the GOP ticket on 11/4 + I've voted straight GOP ticket since the early '80's.  So I've a right to offer up constructive criticism. DD

The Stench of Internationalism Drives GOP Voters Farther Away

Many of us joked about having to “Hold Our Nose” when we did our duty and pulled the lever for John McCain on 11/4/08. Because that analogy works. And this “smell” comparison continues to work because the GOP, its hierarchy, its myriad of consultants, advisers, strategists and the many conservative pundits continue to “Not Get It”. In fact they’re moving off in the absolute wrong direction in their attempts to solve the problem of waning GOP popularity. Or should I say the former GOP voters are forced to move away because of the ideological stench that is being emitted from this band of over educated, clueless idiots. I’m not saying these aren’t brilliant in their particular field of expertise but they’re blinded by their own arrogance.   Many are academic elitists who’ve assigned themselves some sort of god-like infallibility. And they feel that any knowledge learned outside the halls of some ivy league university is some sort of lower form of knowledge. Not worthy of consideration.   And the contempt “they” have for Middle America has surfaced. They no longer try to conceal it. This is evidenced by how we, out here in fly over country, continue to be ignored. No one is coming to us asking what we think.

And what do we think? How do we define, down to the lowest common denominator what the root problem of our Nation is? Well maybe the contempt by some of these elitist might be justified because “we” are a bit fragmented, too. Scatter brained, if I might be so bold.   We middle Americans continue to want to blabber on and on about the symptoms and ignore the root cause. Its like a weed growing in your yard. The homeowners association keeps sending you letters. You whack the weed, smile and walk away. Three days later the weed is, again, a foot high and you have another nasty letter in your mail box from the HOA.   What “we” are not doing is to get to the essence of the “weed”. The root system.   Attack it. Remove it.

Let me try to give you an example. One person is asked what they think. “Well we jailed 2 of our valiant Border Agents – Ramos and Compean. Free Ramos and Compean! That’s what’s wrong with the GOP!”   Ok. Say for instance that our politicians do that. Convince Pres. Obama to pardon them. [which I hope happens] One weed whacked. But its just going to happen again and worse! The weed will grow back with a vengeance. Because we did not get to the root of the problem which is the ability of a foreign [Mexican] government to influence “our” U.S. government. ( LINK ). How did that happen? How is the Mexican government able to circumvent the American Voter and get what they want from “our” elected representatives?   And in this particular case, convince the elected representatives [that we put into office] to rule against us!! How can this happen? The situation with Border Agents like Ramos, Compean and Deputy Gilmer Hernandez being thrown in jail for doing their job is the effect of a much deeper and more serious cause.

Another frustration for many of us is why our Nation can’t seem to engage and decisively defeat an enemy in warfare. Especially since WWII.   It seems like our military must walk around on eggshells, afraid of being charged with War Crimes.   And the Geneva Convention. Well there were actually 4 Geneva Conventions. With all their protocols, revisions and ratifications.   These are simply legal documents all open to one’s own personal interpretations. But our poor military officers and NCO’s must have all of this immense documentation memorized. One small mistake and not only is their career over but they’ll also be charged [by an over zealous JAG] and thrown under the jail for decades. The original Geneva Convention and the Int’l Red Cross were worthy and good endeavors but what they’ve become over the decades is just another international org that has excessive and increasing influence on “our” United States of America and how we conduct warfare. If you do a study of the above links you’ll begin to see that these Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) in essence want to turn warfare into something that is no longer “unpleasant” or “dangerous”. They’ve totally gone over the line and we, the average Middle American, do not want to see our Military hamstrung when the time comes for us to conduct aggressive warfare.   But you see this is something we do not want and we’re angry about – the effect.   But our elected representatives continue to grovel and pander to this international body rather than resist it – the cause.

In a previous post I touched upon the siphoning off of our Nations wealth by foreign nations as a result of our elected representatives allegiance to that sinister international body – the WTO. We, the citizenry, don’t like the fact that we’ve run a trade deficit since 1991.   Never do we enjoy anything close to a trade surplus. And our loss of high paying manufacturing and other jobs that are now outsourced to other nations - the effect.   Our elected representatives continued attachment at the hip with the WTO/GATT – the cause

You show me a serious problem with these United States of America today and I’ll just about guarantee that problem is nothing more than an effect caused by some sort of foreign, outside influence.   This as a result of our elected leaders and their consultants/ staff’s being heavily influenced by globalism/internationalism. Usually this “brainwashing” happens at the university level and they carry it with them, to some degree, into their careers afterwards. Even with our courts and judges on the bench at the highest level!! ( LINK2 ) Its contaminated all aspects of our society.

I’ve been very hard on the academic elites. There’s some very bad characters out there that have control of our universities and are using these positions to poison the minds of our children. But I want to make those who visit my little blog aware of one real, honest-to-goodness champion out there who is fighting the good fight for us and battling to preserve our Nation’s sovereignty.   His name is Dr. John Fonte of the Hudson Institute. And, yes, he happens to be true academic type. Looks the part. Writes like one, etc. But that’s where it stops. The man has put on the armor, taken up his broad sword and confronted the dragon. And he’s done it without going off on the deep end like your Pat Buchanan types. What Dr. Fonte does best is to simply report. But what he reports on gets complicated. He’s reporting on an enemy who has woven an intricate web designed to be almost invisible. But this stealthy web is slowly and quietly being pulled over our Nation. Without even knowing it we will become entangled. Trapped. Most of the freedoms we enjoy lost forever.   I want to introduce you to one of Dr. Fonte’s excellent essays. Probably his best: “Global Governance vs. The Liberal Democratic Nation-State”.    I’m begging you to read through it. Its lengthy. He calls us Liberal Democratic Nationalists. Don’t be offended! That’s what they call folks like us in academia land. He explains this term in the piece. This piece is aimed at academia so he has to be precise. He uses the term “Transnational Progressives” to describe what I’ve been calling “globalists” or “internationalists”. Again, its a very lengthy piece but once you get started you can see that all he is doing is “reporting”.   Reporting the way it should be done. Honest facts. It’s a bit scary once you get started because we’re much farther along than even I could have imagined in the process of losing our Nation and becoming just another piece of a world community puzzle. It was also hard for a non-academic like me to wade through. It’s a bit dry and clinical.   But get through it! At least once. I plan on re-reading it at least 2 or 3 more times. Once you’ve read that piece, I have another assignment for you. Yes, another Fonte essay not nearly as long.   In this piece he refers to “us” with a much more friendly term “Civic Conservatives”.   Which I like much better.   I hope you’ll read these essays and then send Dr. Fonte an email of encouragement. You have to know that he is being diminished and blocked out of the picture by the main stream Transnationalists that are in control of the universities, the media, the department of state, etc. So I would imagine that Dr. Fonte would appreciate some support and encouragement. And for him to know that there are like-minded folks out here.   I also plan on putting a few bucks in an envelope and sending it to his particular branch of the Hudson Inst.   Please leave a comment and let me know what you think! Thanks for stopping by. Darvin Dowdy
